How the hour goes

Every ride runs on the same plan, so there are no surprises for a nervous rider (or parent).

  1. Meet your horse

    Your guide walks you through the barn, introduces your horse by name, and fits your helmet.

  2. Ground lesson

    How to sit, hold the reins, steer, and stop. Kids and adults learn side by side.

  3. Mount up

    Mounting block or ramp, guide at your side. Two laps of the paddock until everyone's settled.

  4. On the trail

    Shaded trail, walking pace, single file with the guide up front and a wrangler at the back.

  5. Back at the barn

    Dismount, pet your horse, photos. Ask your guide about next time.

Why first-timers do well here

We don't run a trail string that walks nose-to-tail while you hang on. Every rider gets a horse chosen for them, a real lesson, and a guide who's watching. That's the whole idea, and it's why [most] of our riders have never been on a horse before.

  • Calm horses only. Chosen for temperament, trained for trail work with new riders, rested between rides.
  • Small groups. One guide per [8] riders, with a second wrangler on the trail.
  • Plain rules. Ages, weight limit, weather, and cancellations are on the rides page, not in the fine print.
