Parent Q&A

The questions we get every day, answered plainly. Don't see yours? Send us a message or call [(704) 555-0100].

  • Do I need any riding experience?

No. [Most] of our riders have never been on a horse. Every ride starts with a ground lesson — how to sit, steer, stop, and stay relaxed — and your guide is with you the whole way.

  • How old do you have to be?

Trail rides are [7]+ for the Intro ride, [10]+ for the Scenic Loop, and [12]+ for Sunset. Younger kids can do a led pony ride or a kids' lesson. Riders under 18 need a parent or guardian to sign the waiver.

  • Is there a weight limit?

Yes — [240 lbs]. It's about the horses' comfort and long-term soundness, not the rider. Close to the limit? Call us; we have a couple of larger horses and can usually make it work.

  • What should we wear?

Long pants, closed-toe shoes (boots or sneakers), and layers. Helmets are provided and required. Leave dangling jewelry, loose scarves, and anything you'd hate to get dusty at home.

  • What happens if it rains?

When it rains, you have the option to ride in our indoor arena. If lightning, heavy storms, ice, or dangerous heat make riding unsafe, we offer a free reschedule. Check your email and phone [two hours] before your ride time.

  • Can I cancel or reschedule?

Free up to [48 hours] before your ride. Inside that window the deposit is non-refundable, but we'll always try to reschedule you if a spot opens.

  • Do we need a reservation?

Yes. No walk-up rides — every horse and guide is scheduled in advance. Book online or call; we confirm within one business day.

  • Can I ride with my kids?

Absolutely. The Intro Trail Ride is [our most popular] family ride. Each rider gets their own horse (we don't double up). For kids under the minimum age, ask about a pony ride at the same time.

  • My kid is nervous. Will this work?

Usually, yes. Nervous riders get the steadiest horse in the barn, extra time at the ground lesson, and a guide who checks in constantly. If a rider decides at the barn that today isn't the day, we'll reschedule without charge.

  • Can I bring my phone or camera?

Yes, with a strap or a zipped pocket. Your guide stops at the best photo spots and can take a few of you too.

  • Do you offer gift certificates?

Yes, for any ride or any dollar amount. Delivered by email, valid for one year.

  • Is the barn accessible?

Parking, restrooms, and the picnic area are step-free. For riders with disabilities, please call [(704) 555-0100] — we have a mounting ramp and can talk through options.

  • Can we feed or pet the horses?

Petting, yes — your guide will show you where they like it. Feeding, only the treats we hand you; no outside snacks, please.
